Sean John Exclusive Deal With Macy’s: It’s On!

Diddy goes exclusive with Macys for Sean John

We seriously don’t know whether this is a great move or a suicidal one.  P. Diddy just announced yesterday that his clothing line, Sean John, will only be available at Macy’s and starting with the release of their Spring 2011 collection.  But in a way, it is an admirable achievement, considering Diddy’s past with Macy’s:

“This is really full circle for me. I started working at Macy’s when I was 16 in the New Rochelle [N.Y.] mall. I remember so vividly selling ties and dress shirts and belts and ringing them up. And now, I’m further building my relationship with Macy’s.”

The past might be sweet, but the future is even sweeter.  Diddy and co. started the relationship with Macy’s 11 years ago and the support Sean John received from Macy’s has been tremendous.  Diddy thinks it’s the right time to take the Sean John-Macy’s relationship to the next level.  However positive this is, the following statement from Diddy might surprise some urban streetwear fans:

“We are finally getting people to not put us in the urban box. This is an affirmation of that hard work. We are becoming a more contemporary brand.”
