Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony Announce Kohl’s Collaboration

The fashion industry has always loved collaborations between celebrity designers and mass retailers. Isaac Mizrahi started the trend years ago when he brought his high-fashion designs to Target, and the trend has only exploded since then. The industry has seen Max Azria design for Walmart and Nicole Miller design for JC Penny. The days of “you get what you pay for” are long gone, with high fashion accessible at any price point. America’s current economic downslide has only reinforced fashion frugality – and shopping has never been easier on our wallets.

As mainstream as bargain hunting has become, Jennifer Lopez, reigning queen of opulence and luxury brands, took the entire fashion industry by surprise recently when she and husband Marc Anthony announced their new line of fashion and lifestyle products exclusively for Kohl’s. Past celebrity partnerships with Kohl’s like LC by Lauren Conrad and Simply Vera by Vera Wang have sold amazingly well, not to mention earned major fashion cred with every publication from W to Cosmopolitan. With a successful fashion track record and unsurpassed sales from her beauty and fragrance empire, bringing the J-Lo golden touch to the masses through Kohl’s seems like a perfect fit.

Lopez and Anthony, who are often photographed in coordinating outfits, plan to add a similar “his and hers” component to their Kohl’s brand. Her line will be exclusively for women, and will encompass everything from dresses to athletic wear to jewelry. His will consist of men’s dress shirts, jackets, ties and shoes. In line with the couple’s own personal style, there’s sure to be a few color-coordinated pieces between the two lines.

In the future, both Lopez and Anthony are looking forward to expanding their Kohl’s brand to include home goods and accessories. It will be a while before the line hits shelves, but a J-Lo/Kohl’s collaboration is certainly cause for fashion celebration. We can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
