Lots of kids like to play dress-up in their parents’ closets. Instead of prancing around the house in out-sized designer duds, tikes can now enjoy their very own chic wardrobe courtesy of Stella McCartney. The acclaimed designer’s new line includes looks for girls, as well as boys. Sizing accommodates children from ages two to twelve. There is also a line of baby clothes. The new line is available in select stores.
As is true with most designer lines, items in this collection are much more expensive than the sort of items that are available from retailers such as The Children’s Place and Baby Gap. A boy’s cashmere sweater, for example, starts at $61. A girl’s embroidered blouse costs between $72 and $79, depending on size. In the baby line, a jumpsuit made out of a cashmere blend is priced at $88.
While these prices may seem a bit steep for children’s clothes, they are significantly less expensive than Ms. McCartney’s line for adults which includes daywear dresses that cost over $800 a pop. The price points may differ quite a bit between the lines, but there are some similarities in terms of fabrication. Just as with the looks created for adults, many of the pieces in the children’s clothing line are made from natural, organic fibers that have been harvested in sustainable manners.
