Iconic heavy metal band Metallica leant their name and graphics to a few collections of Vans shoes. The first design pack was released in 2012. The classic Vans Slip-On and Sk8 Hi shoes were printed with the Kill Em All album cover art for a bold graphic look.
Their second release in 2012 was a black monochrome Vans Half Cab Pro with Kill Em All patches and lyrics embossed in the foxing. The Kill Em All cover art is printed on the bottom on the sole.
In 2013 each band member designed their own signature sneaker:
- James Hetfield: a black suede Sk8 Hi with a skull label on the tongue
- Lars Ulrich: a black and white Authentic Gore with a diamond plate pattern based on his snare drum design
- Kirk Hammett: a monochrome black Slip-On made of hemp with Metallica’s logo in black on the heel.
- Robert Trujillo: a Sk8 Low in black leather and a blue Aztec print designed by his wife
