Gene Simmons created the “MoneyBag” logo of a bulging sack tied with a string with a dollar sign on the front. He has owned this design for decades and in 2007 he used the logo to launch a clothing line.
He partnered with Dussault Apparel head designer Jason Dussault in order to turn the MoneyBag into a lifestyle brand, also know as eXtreme MoneyBag. They incorporated the logo into premium genuine leather goods such as belts, bags, and wallets featuring an embossed MoneyBag print. They also created hats and t-shirts.
“I have owned the trademark Moneybag logo for over 25 years. I have used it on my magazines, book imprints, my record company and a few other areas. Until I met Jason Dussault, I held off on really going out into the marketplace with an apparel line. It has to do with finding a kindred spirit and Jason is it. He and I share a passion for only doing things in life that mean something. Together we are creating cutting-edge, in-your-face fashions.” – Gene Simmons
The leather bags have been discontinued, but Gene Simmons continues to sell t-shirts with the MoneyBag logo though his own website, genesimmons.com.
Simmons is best known as “The Demon,” his blood-spitting, fire-breathing, and tongue-wagging persona in the hard rock band KISS, an act he co-founded in the early 1970s. Simmons, who has never been married, currently lives in Beverly Hills, California with longtime partner and former Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed. They have two children.
