Victoria Beckham’s own denim collection featured Japanese fabrics, contrast stitching, colored zippers, purple lining, and either a star or the DVB logo on the pocket. The jeans ranged in price from $285 to $325 and were sold in the high-end department store Saks Fifth Avenue as well as at boutiques.
DVB denim caused drama between Posh and retailers who alleged that Victoria was not doing enough to promote the brand. Los Angeles boutique Kitson was frustrated that she would not schedule any events at their store: “We asked her PR people so many times for her to appear but she didn’t. Celebrity lines are no different from an album or music tour. They have to be promoted to sell.” They dropped the line in July 2008.
Saks Fifth Avenue followed suit and parted ways with DVB in February 2009. In addition the lackluster sales and poor promotion, Saks was upset when Victoria announced that she would releasing her collection of dresses exclusively at the competing store Bergdorf Goodman.
Victoria has dropped the DVB name from her clothing, but she continues to sell other denim styles under her Victoria Beckham namesake label.
