On her way to world domination, Beyoncé decided she doesn’t only want to dress women, she also wants to dress up houses. According to HomeTextilesToday.com, Bey and her mom, Tina Knowles, have come up with designs for sheets and such to give swagger for the American home. Dereon entrusted Arrow Home Fashions with the license for the brands at the end of 2009, which in just a few months managed to deliver awesome home fabric collections.
The upcoming Dereon home furnishing collections feature European-inspired prints and colors, bohemian patchwork pieces, metallic threads, shams with diamond quilt stitching and feminine dressmaking details. If your taste is more ‘grown up’, look for the House of Dereon collections, as they are intended for the master bedroom. Prices range from $149.99 up to $199.99. For the younger audience, get the print-oriented Dereon collection with prices ranging from $49.99 up to $99.99.
Bey’s mom, Tina Knowles, stated:
“There’s a lot of beautiful bedding out there. You can find bedding with dressmaker details and the fun, but they’re also expensive. I’ve been dreaming about home since we started the line. I love pleating. I love pin-tucking. I love beading.”
The whole idea of the Knowles family launching beddings and home furnishings isn’t actually strange. The woman who inspired the brand, Agnz Dereon -that’s Beyoncé’s grandma to you, was known to have loved making home furnishings for a limited clientele. Tina Knowles inherited her mother’s talent and has also designed custom window and bedding for her home in Houston, as well as her daughter’s homes. As for future plans of the line, expect to see bath accessories, towels, table linens and table top after the beddings.
“I’ve always done my bedding and (bedding) for friends and my daughters. I designed bedding and draperies, and I love home, so it’s been a dream to do the bedding. I mean it’s been an interest of my daughters as well, because they designed their own bedding, and you know, it’s just a fun project.”
