Mothercare, a UK-based retailer of maternity and baby items, partnered with British singer Myleene Klass to create a new line of baby clothing known as ‘Baby K.’ The collaboration began in 2008 when her first daughter Ava Bailey Quinn was still a baby. Myleene felt that as a new mom she was uniquely equipped to know what buyers want when it comes to baby clothes.
“Its been great fun designing these clothes, I’ve literally sat down at home and looked at what works for babies from my own experiences. I’ve tried to be really responsible too, checking zippers, making sure buttons don’t drop off and that things wash well.”
Myleene gave birth to her second daughter Hero Harper in 2011. The brand was originally aimed at children 0-3 years, but with both of her own children growing older, she expanded the line to include sizes for kids up to 8 years old.
BabyK won the award for Best Boys’ Fashion Brand in the 2014 Junior Design Awards.
Klass is an English actress, singer, model, pianist, radio and television presenter, formerly a member of the short-lived UK pop band HearSay. She has published a book about her experiences of being pregnant, entitled “My Bump and Me: From Morning Sickness to Motherhood – An Honest Diary of My Pregnancy.”
