Avril Lavigne debuted her Abbey Dawn clothing line exclusively at Kohl’s in 2008. The name ‘Abbey Dawn’ is the nickname her dad gave her as a child. Described as a “juniors lifestyle brand”, the Kohl’s collection included hoodies and jeans with skull and zebra patterns similar to the artwork on Lavigne’s album The Best Damn Thing. The clothing was initially sold in the junior’s section of the store and was later expanded to include a girls collection as well.
The has an “authentic rock n roll attitude” with a “feminine edge.” Lavigne describes the line, saying “It’s rock glam: fun, colorful, and edgy.” She also says “I want it to be available to a lot of girls, and I want it to be affordable.”
After her deal with Kohl’s expired, Avril has continued on with the brand independently, though it has become harder to find without the nationwide distribution of Kohl’s. Abbey Dawn clothing can be purchased online or in select punk boutiques.
