Irish singer Robbie Williams launched his menswear line “Farrell” in Dublin’s Brown Thomas department store in 2012. The line is named after his grandfather Jack Farrell, who also served as one of Williams’ design inspirations:
“Jack Farrell was my granddad he fought in the Second World War and he worked down the pit all of his life, after being a soldier. He had a tough life, but he always dressed well and his attire was always spiffy. That’s what I remember about him the most.”
The brand briefly ceased operations, but was relaunced at Primark stores in 2014. For the revamp, he joined forces with entrepreneur and investor Peter Jones to help build Farrell into a global fashion brand.
