Another day, another celebrity capsule collection. This time, it’s Sole Society, collaborating with ballroom dancer/actress/singer Julianne Hough!

Hough will not just design gorgeous shoes for the collection, she will also be participating in Sole Society’s online fashion insider program, sharing her personal style tips and picks some of her favorite Sole Society shoes!

Brett Markinson, CEO of Sole Society stated:

She is a consummate professional and her values as well as her sense of style and fashion are very much in line with our own and what we stand for as a brand. She is very excited about expressing herself creatively and we are excited about capturing her authenticity and helping channel it into this very special shoe line.

Julianne shares the same excitement about her involvement in the collaboration:

The line will also be affordable and retailed starting at $49.95 per pair. However, you’ll have to wait until February 2013 to get them at solesociety.com and Nordstrom stores.

Yet Another Celebrity Nail Polish: Salma Hayek Launches Nuance Nail Color



Following the footsteps of the celebrities who launched their nail color lines this season, including Fergie and Snooki, actress Salma Hayek extends her Nuance cosmetic line and included nail polish in it. However, unlike the other stars, Hayek took her daughter, Valentina, as her inspiration. She explained that Valentina loves nail colors, and this inspired her to create a range of nail polish that is safe for children.

She’s obsessed with nails and nail colors. I wanted to get [the formula] so it wasn’t very toxic and so you can put it on your children.


On the expansion, Hayek didn’t hesitate to go big. The nail colors will be available in 30 shades and retailed for $5.99 each. You can expect to see Nuance nail color at CVS and CVS.com by November 19 and virtually everywhere in the first quarter of 2013, as it’s going to be sold in 1900 retailers. Why not? As Salma said, it’s for everyone.

It’s a lot of hip new colors, some are young and happy and there are also really sophisticated classic ones. It’s a little bit for everyone.

Chris Brown launched his collaborative clothing line for his new brand Black Pyramid, and showcased the street-savvy pieces as his follow-up foray into the fashion world after creating the Mechanical Dummy brand a while ago. The singer also partnered up with Pink + Dolphin store and produced t-shirts, hats, and hip-hop style hoodies plus other accessories aimed for the young market. The singer stated:

“It’s about friendship. It’s just like fashion and hanging out. Being able to collab with them, with my brand…It’s just getting off heat for what’s coming and what the future holds.”

Chris Brown combines the logos of both companies, creating an image of an upside-down black pyramid with pink dolphins rising from the top. This collaborative line includes accessories and casual tops adorned with stenciled iconography with fun drawings against monotone backgrounds (black and gray). Pink + Dolphin CEO, Neima Khaila, said:

“The brand is based on exclusivity – being unique, being different – that’s the whole background. Pink dolphins are real animals – they’re an endangered species – that’s what we modeled the whole brand after.”

Nicki Minaj About Including Upcoming Fashion Line In Reality Show

Rapper Nicki Minaj is coming up with a fashion line, and has been mysterious about it since August 2012. However, she did spill something about a new reality show brewing which will probably coincide with the launch of her fashion line.

However to those of you who want to see what goes down behind-the-scenes fashion footage, don’t get your hopes too high because apparently Nicki still has some hesitation about it. She told Billboard:

“I’ll see how overwhelming it is. If I feel like it’s too personal, people discussing too much, I won’t do it.”

But wouldn’t it be nice if we can see her in the creative process? How on-hand she’ll be with the designs, or will she adopt Kimora Lee Simmons’ way to demand perfection, will she do the sketches herself, pick out the colors, arrange the models photo session…?


She’s probably right. It is rather overwhelming! But we do hope she’ll do it. Do you want to see Minaj in action as a fashion designer?


Fun With Clothes: Rihanna and Her River Island Collection

Finally something new from Rihanna other than her on-off love affair with Chris Brown. As you can see above, Rihanna gave a sneak peek of her creation for River Island. Do you like it?

The Bajan singer announced back in July 2012 that she would be collaborating with British high street brand River Island. She stated:

“I’ve been wanting to design my own collection for some time. River Island is the perfect partner for me to collaborate with and working with a British, family-run business also really appealed to me. I find London really inspiring and River Island loves to have fun with clothes. I’m looking forward to working with them and creating something really special.”

River Island CEO Ben Lewis is also thrilled about the collaboration:

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Rihanna and to be the first fashion brand to work with her in this way. Rihanna is a style icon, from street to chic she enjoys her fashion. As soon as we started to work together we knew this was a perfect fit. Rihanna will be designing the collection and we will be sharing our fashion experience with her to develop a range her fans will love.”

The collection will be launched in Spring 2013.


Brad Pitt Designs His Own Furniture Line!

We know we cover celebrity-created fashion, but this we couldn’t resist! Word on the fashion avenue is… Brad Pitt is coming out with his own furniture line. The actor teamed up with furniture maker Frank Pollaro, creating a furniture line consisting of a dining table, cocktail table, side tables, club chairs, and a bathtub for two made from Statuario Venato marble.

Pitt told Architectural Digest that he has been doodling for furniture and buildings since about twenty years ago;

“I’ve been doodling ideas for buildings and furniture since the early 1990s, when I first discovered [Charles Rennie] Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright. Actually, I found Wright in college, when looking for a lazy two-point credit to get out of French. It forever changed my life.”

Pitt has created the “Make It Right” Foundation to build quality affordable housing for the Hurricane Katrina survivors in New Orleans, and the foundation hired prominent architects for the task. Despite his attempt at design, Pitt is yet to approve his new title as ‘furniture designer’. He says, “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”

New Spokeswoman for L’Oreal Paris: Julianne Moore

L’Oréal Paris appointed its new spokeswoman for an upcoming anti-aging skincare line called Cellular Renaissance: Julianne Moore. The actress said she’s been a loyal L’Oréal user, and that she wants to share the brand’s universal appeal across ages and ethnicities.

“I’m an actual user of the brand and it’s hard not to be. Every modern woman shops everywhere for beauty, but for me it’s mostly the airport or the drugstore. It’s nice to be promoting something that is accessible to everyone.”

Karen Fondu, president of L’Oréal Paris USA said that Moore is:

“an inspiration to women all over the world. She is undeniably one of the most accomplished women of her time — an award-winning actress, children’s book author and supporter of several philanthropic efforts close to her heart. Julianne is the perfect addition to our family of spokespeople.”

Moore, who’s of Scottish descent, is no stranger to beauty regimens:

“My mother was from Scotland and had very fair skin. She wouldn’t allow us to go in the sun,” She also gave a tip to her fans to always use a washcloth to cleanse the face. “It’s an old-fashioned beauty tip for exfoliating.”

Moore is also said to be representing hair color products from L’Oréal, however the brand won’t disclose the line just yet.

Fergie Launches Full Wet n Wild Makeup Collection!

Before Kate Middleton and Mariah Carey, Black Eyed Peas’ vocalist Fergie has already collaborated with nail lacquer brand, Wet n Wild. She’s been having a great time being the brand’s ambassador since earlier this year, but although she’s all about the crazy colors, she needs the classics as well.

“I can do the fun glitters and shimmers on stage. But at the same time, I need my classic colors, too. Whoever I’m going to be on a given day, I want my makeup to fit.”

This season, Fergie and Wet n Wild are launching their new line of cosmetics that includes eye shadow palettes, lipsticks, eyeliners, nail polishes, and many more. Fergie said:

“This is a big deal for me and for my fans,” she shares. “It’s something we both relate to because we both love the colors and we both love the price point.”

Other than the five-colored shadow palettes and elegantly packaged eyeliners and lip colors, the one feature Fergie is most proud of is that the line is sweat-proof. She said:

“I thought, if we’re going to make it better, let’s really make it better.”

Fergie also involved her mom and girlfriends to name each of the products.

“We had so much fun with that. Going through each of the colors, it was like, ‘What does this mean to me? Well this reminds me of this.’ I have different stories for each one of them.”
